River House

A reinterpretation of the riverine Malay mansion located at the scenic Kampung Hujung Tanjong in Kuala Perlis, Malaysia. The owner of the house wanted to renovate the existing house into rentable accommodation for the local ecotourism industry. The riverside village itself is rich with examples of beautiful Malay houses. This renovation strategy is mainly to express the original structure of the house (by removing the previous “modern” renovation) and improving the internal temperature by installing a hybrid air conditioning system. The fit out proposed specifies furniture pieces designed by master craftsmen from the North and East Coast of Malaysia as well as modern art works.
