Ihsan Hassan Architect, a sole proprietorship registered with the Board of Architects Malaysia, was founded on August 31, 2023. Our mission is to offer comprehensive architectural services to individuals and businesses seeking an alternative to the conventional norms of corporate and commercial architecture - in pursuit of sustainable, modern, and traditional architectural solutions. Specializing in interior and architectural design services, we pride ourselves on our expertise in the eclectic and diverse classical architecture of Southeast Asia. While our firm may be in its nascent stage, our principal architect, Ar. Ihsan Hassan, brings over 12 years of industry experience to the table, encompassing diverse projects ranging from high-rise buildings to hospitality and housing.

Classical and Traditional Architecture
Classical architecture, an art form rooted in the wisdom of the ages, draws its strength from time-tested principles, embracing the essence of both bygone eras and modern triumphs. It is a discipline that takes inspiration from Southeast Asian traditional buildings as well as revered voices of Europe (Vitruvius, Palladio, Vignola, etc.), China (the Yingzao Fashi), and India (the Vaastu literatures). In fact, even modern contemporary landmarks that have successfully stood the test of time are also now considered part of the Classical tradition. Rather than chasing fleeting trends, it reveres the enduring, crafting spaces and structures that transcend generations. This devotion to the 'best of the best' yields designs of unparalleled grace and timelessness, flexibly adapting to changing needs. It is this quality that sets classical and traditional architecture apart, offering longevity that contrasts starkly with the disposable nature of many modern constructions. Principal Architect
Ar. Ihsan Hassan is the principal and founder of Ihsan Hassan Architects, with an academic background that includes an MEng in Structural Engineering and Architecture from the University of Sheffield, UK, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He holds a certification as an Industrialised Building System Professional by the Construction Industry Board of Malaysia (CIDB) and has amassed 12 years of experience in various architectural works, encompassing high-rise buildings, hotels, housing, and urban planning.
His professional accomplishments include achievements in design competitions organized by Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and other institutions, including a notable fifth-place finish in the 2019 competition for the design of Indonesia's new capital city, Nusantara while in corporate practice.
While his corporate portfolio predominantly reflects modern design, Ar. Ihsan Hassan has devoted a decade to the study of classical and traditional architectural principles, informed by ancient texts, meticulous measurements of Southeast Asian heritage structures, and participation in archaeological excavations such as Lembah Bujang. This background forms the foundation of Ihsan Hassan Architect's commitment to preserve and continue Southeast Asia's classical and traditional design legacy.
